OUIDAD HELPS THE FIGHT AGAINST FRIZZY HAIR

Ouidad’s Climate Control gel has long been the secret weapon of choice for women looking to tame their ringlets, thanks to its heat—and humidity—fighting formula. Just how successful has it been? Enough that New York-based curly hair-centric salon has developed an entire line around it, with this month’s launch of a shampoo, conditioner, and a flyaway shine spray developed to be used in conjunction with the original gel.
“Given the cult following surrounding this product and the fact that frizz-fighting is the top concern among curly hair women, it was a natural next step to expand the Climate Control franchise and create product extensions that are formulated specifically for curly hair [and] that deliver unparalleled anti-frizz technology,” says Lindsay Barrish, Director of Product Development at the brand.

The technology she’s referring to includes Ouidad’s Humidity Shield Complex, which protects against environmental factors (think heat, humidity, and even pollution), alongside moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and wheat amino acids. As Barrish explains, “The cuticle layer of curls are more easily exposed because of their inherent spiral nature, so these products work to seal the cuticle, ultimately eliminating frizz.” Yet for all of the cutting-edge developments on display in the Climate Control line, Ouidad also made sure to cut out any harsh chemicals—the shampoo and conditioner “are the first completely sulfate-free products in the Ouidad line, and they are of course free of parabens and any synthetic dyes,” notes Barrish.
With heat and humidity steadily rising, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
