Bibhu Mohapatra Designs Capsule Collection for Rent the Runway

It's now more affordable to wear Bibhu Mohapatra's exotic designs—even if it's for one night only—thanks to his capsule collection for Rent the Runway. He follows in the footsteps of Donna Karan, who also recently created a special line of dresses for site.

The designer visited his home country of India (see our exclusive image below!) to source fabrics and draw inspiration for his six-piece collection ($200–$400 for dress rental).

"This capsule collection was inspired by the Art Deco influence on Indian arts, craft, and architecture—a period uniquely fusing the Deco movement with traditional Indian sensibility," Mohapatra told us. "The dresses should be styled with architectural and modern-shaped accessories. They are not confined by any geographic boundary. This collection is relevant for any special occasion–whether in New York or Mumbai, or any place in between."

According to Mohapatra, the decision to team up with Rent the Runway was an easy one. "Rent the Runway is one of my oldest collaborators and their client base is familiar with the Bibhu DNA," he enthused. "Above all, I love my friends at Rent the Runway–they are my biggest fans!"
