Bon Iver Makes Shoes… Kinda

Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon is suddenly a constant presence in our collective subconscious. After spotting the hilarious tribute Tumblr “Bon Iver Erotic Stories”—a collection of micro-fiction employing the most earthy stereotypes of Vernon—it’s hard not to have a soft spot for the Wisconsin-bred musician. Now, Vernon has teamed up with Keep Company (the most reliable makers of not-too-girly vegan shoes) to create a pair of his own footwear. The Bon Iver shoe is an update of Keep’s Ramos model—a rounded-toe canvas desert boot—and boasts a marriage of herringbone and pale-salmon cotton, with a fishbone accent printed across the toes.
Proceeds from the shoes will benefit the Best Friends Animal Society, a Utah-based sanctuary for abandoned animals. This collaboration sparks a charitable trend for Keep, who first collaborated with the band Animal Collective last year, aiding another animal-benefiting non-profit. Bon Iver’s Keep shoes are for pre-sale now (with delivery slated for October), but only until July 1. After that, you’ll have to wait to get your hands on a pair once they hit Keep’s select stockists—which might not be a smart move, considering the popularity of this (rather dreamy) Grammy Award-winning crooner.
