The Coolest Nails You Will Ever Have

Stick-on nails may be nothing new, but these aren’t your average Lee Press-Ons. Nail Rock Nail Wraps launched last year in the UK and now founder Zoe Pocock—who counts Adele, Daisy Lowe, and Lara Stone as fans—has brought her winning designs to the U.S. (they’re currently available at nordstrom.com). Most exciting, however, is Pocock’s spring/summer Nail Rock lineup. In Nordstrom and CVS stores next month, the collection is arguably her most creative.

“This season, I decided that every nail doesn’t have to be the same—three of the designs have a
different look for each nail,” says Pocock. Our favorite ones? The Meadham Kirchoff collection and Tribal Gold, pictured above. The Meadham Kirchoff collection adorned the nails of models at the fashion house’s spring 2012 show: “The designers sent us ideas of what they wanted—their collection was all about schoolgirls and hand-drawn storybooks so we decorated the nails with pictures of giraffes, doll’s heads, teddy bears, and hearts,” says Pocock.

For the Tribal Gold collection, Pocock says she gleaned inspiration from “old-school nail art bars,” where Aztec-influenced designs were in demand.

So just how easy is it to nail one of Pocock’s ready-to-go manicures? As easy as one, two, three. For the perfect long-wearing mani, Pocock says the first step is to gently wipe clean nails with acetone remover (“to get rid of any surface oils that can impair the adhesiveness of the wraps”) and buff them smooth. Next, press the wrap onto the nail, moving horizontally from one side to the other. Finally, use a super-fine nail file to saw off excess strip at the end.

Expect the wraps to stay on for around 10 days, through shampooing sessions and all. If you’d like to remove the wraps earlier than that, Pocock recommends a steam assisted peel-off after a shower or hot bath, to avoid any leftover residue.
