Roberto Cavalli Tested His New Scent in Nightclubs

Can you imagine Roberto Cavalli in a science lab?  No, neither can we.  So we weren’t shocked to hear where the designer chose to test his new eponymous fragrance.  “Coty would give me lots of choices, and I would take vials of different scents with me to the club,” he said. “I don’t go to the clubs so much anymore, but I started going again to see my celebrity friends and have them advise me on which ones they liked best. People would tell me their favorites, and after several months, we decided on the winner.”

The scent is an intoxicating mix of amber, pink pepper, orange blossom, and tonka bean and its face is just as exotic: Egyptian-born Elisa Sednaoui stars in the sexy commercial hitting airwaves later this month.  “A perfume is like a dress,” Cavalli said. “The right one can help you win the man of your life.”
Between the custom-made Cavalli gown and the scent she undoubtedly wears onscreen, there’s no question that Sednaoui landed whatever she wanted when the commercial wrapped.  Onscreen, she enters a lavish party with a tiger in tow and renders the object of her affection speechless (view the ad after the jump).  “The dress was amazing—when I wore it, I just knew it was right,” says Sednaoui of the slit-to-there creation. “I didn’t get to keep it after the shoot, but I got the underwear that went with it! It’s made from the same fabric.”

When she’s not in front of the camera, Sednaoui prefers suits to dresses. “I like to play with masculine outfits because when you’re confident and comfortable, it shows,” she says. “I was in London not too long ago, and wore a white suit—I loved it because I looked like Michael Jackson! I wore it to a neon party with florescent lights.”
Cavalli said that the model’s fearless fashion sense and fun-loving personality made her the perfect face for his first scent with Coty Prestige.  Not to mention, he loves a sexy, glamorous, feminine, and romantic woman: “When working on a collection or fragrance, I keep the same things in mind.”
